About Me

My name is Pamela R. Short, and I was born in Dothan, Alabama. I have three handsome children, Kristopher, Jeremiah, and Joshua.

I obtained my Master of Science in Nursing, MSN, Nurse Educator from the Auburn University School of Nursing in Auburn, AL in 2018. I also received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Auburn University in 1993. My practice began in Selma, AL in the Intensive Care Unit of an upstanding hospital where I was nurtured as a novice nurse and trained in excellence by mature critical care nurses.

My practice expanded to Camden, AL in Community Health/Home Health Nursing providing care to patients in rural areas. As a Home Health nurse, patient teaching is essential to help those in need manage their everyday lives.

As an extension of community health nursing, I encountered an opportunity to teach courses in Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide at Wallace Community College in Selma, then progressed to Licensed Practical Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing.

I chose to become a Nurse Educator because I love to see the light bulb come on in the lives of students when they finally master a concept that they have been studying for an extended period. I enjoy teaching students to deliver care in a professional, caring manner. Those are two essential components of nursing that I believe every practicing nurse needs to provide competent nursing care.
